What level of skiing ability is required for a backcountry tour?
You should be a confident intermediate-to-advanced skier at the resort, capable of handling "blue" or "black" terrain in varied conditions. No prior off-piste experience is necessary for our intro level experiences.
Do you provide avalanche safety equipment?
Yes. Every guest is outfitted with a modern avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel. We also provide a comprehensive "gear briefing" to ensure you are comfortable using them.
Is uphill touring equipment included?
We provide the safety essentials, but guests are responsible for their own skis/split boards, skins, and boots. We can, however, facilitate high-end rentals through our local partners.
How much hiking/climbing is involved?
Expect to spend the majority of the day moving uphill. We move at a "guide's pace"—efficient and sustainable—to ensure everyone has enough energy left for the best part: the descent. Its part of the fun!
What if the avalanche danger is "High"?
Safety is non-negotiable. If conditions are unstable, your guide will select a low-angle "safe" zone (non-avalanche terrain.)
